Studio Policy
My goal is to provide consistent, individualized music instruction in an encouraging environment while keeping scheduling, payment, and communication simple and clear. This policy helps establish expectations so I can focus on what matters most—helping each student grow as a musician.
Discovery Lessons
New students may begin with a 30-minute Discovery Lesson for $20. The Discovery Lesson gives me an opportunity to meet the student, learn about their musical interests and goals, assess their current experience and skill level, and determine the best starting point for instruction. The $20 fee is collected at the Discovery Lesson. If the student decides to continue with regular lessons, $20 will be deducted from the cost of the first regular lesson—essentially making the Discovery Lesson free. There is no obligation to continue with regular lessons after a Discovery Lesson.
Lesson Payment
Payment for regular lessons is due at the time of the lesson unless another payment arrangement has been established in advance. Electronic payment options are available for convenience. A regularly scheduled lesson time is reserved specifically for that student. Timely payment helps me maintain consistent scheduling and availability for all students. Scheduling
I encourage students to maintain a consistent weekly lesson time whenever possible. Regular scheduling provides continuity, supports steady progress, and allows me to reserve a specific time for each student. Because I travel to students for in-home instruction, maintaining an agreed-upon schedule also allows me to coordinate travel time between lessons.
Requests to change a regular lesson time will be accommodated whenever my schedule allows.
Cancellations & Rescheduling
I understand that illness, family obligations, travel, weather, and unexpected situations happen. Please provide at least 24 hours' notice when canceling or requesting to reschedule a lesson whenever possible. Lessons canceled with at least 24 hours' notice may be rescheduled based on my availability. Lessons canceled with less than 24 hours' notice may be charged at the regular lesson rate and are not guaranteed a make-up lesson. Emergencies and unusual circumstances will be handled reasonably on a case-by-case basis. If I need to cancel a lesson, I will reschedule the lesson or credit any payment already made toward a future lesson.
In-Home Lessons
AspenSkye specializes in convenient in-home music instruction. For students under 18, a parent, guardian, or other responsible adult must be present in the home during the lesson. Students should have their instrument, music, and other necessary lesson materials ready at the scheduled start time. For families with multiple students receiving consecutive lessons at the same home, applicable family discounts and travel arrangements will be reflected in the agreed lesson pricing.
Lesson Start & End Times
Lessons begin and end at the scheduled times. If a student is not ready or available at the scheduled start time, I will provide instruction for the remaining portion of the scheduled lesson. The lesson will still end at its originally scheduled time so I can remain on schedule for the students who follow. If I arrive late because of travel or another circumstance on my end, the student will receive their full scheduled lesson time whenever reasonably possible.
Communication
Please contact me as soon as possible regarding scheduling changes, cancellations, payment questions, or anything else that may affect a student's lessons. I value straightforward communication. If something is affecting a student's schedule, progress, or ability to continue lessons, please reach out so we can determine the best solution.
Ending Lessons
Students may discontinue lessons at any time. I ask for reasonable advance notice whenever possible so I can make the reserved lesson time available to another student. Any outstanding lesson fees remain due when lessons are discontinued.
Policy Changes
I may update or modify this Studio Policy as needed. Students and parents/guardians will be notified of any significant changes. The most current version of the Studio Policy will always be available on the AspenSkye website.
Agreement
By scheduling and participating in lessons through AspenSkye, the student or parent/guardian acknowledges and agrees to the AspenSkye Studio Policy. I look forward to helping each student develop their musical skills, confidence, creativity, and enjoyment of music.
