Stories Behind the Music
Triumph
I originally wrote “Triumph” in 2009. The idea came unexpectedly while I was at a music store checking out a new Yamaha PSR-900 keyboard. I started exploring the string sounds and came across a patch called “Tutti.” I began playing, and almost immediately, the idea for this piece started taking shape. By the time I left the store, much of the musical concept was already in my head. A few days later, I bought the keyboard and finished writing “Triumph.” Now, 17 years later, I decided to breathe new life into the piece using today's virtual orchestral sound libraries. I made a few tweaks to the original arrangement, expanded the orchestration, and gave the music the sound I could only imagine when I first wrote it in 2009. Here is the final result. “Triumph” — composed in 2009, reimagined in 2026.
Something's Out There
"Something's Out There" began as an idea after watching a few episodes of Stranger Things in 2021. Rather than telling a story, I wanted to create a feeling—an atmosphere of mystery, anticipation, and the sense that something unseen may be lurking just beyond the darkness. Built around sustained tension and ambient textures, this piece leaves the question unanswered: what is out there?
The March
More than three decades ago, I sat down at a musical keyboard and began playing a driving rhythm with my left hand. Almost immediately, the melody came to mind. Even the repeating bassoon motif that carries through the piece was there from the beginning. I never forgot it. In 2024, I finally began composing the full piece. What started as a simple musical idea slowly grew into something much larger than I originally imagined. After all of these years, I finally share with you "The March."
